Day of Mourning 2007
April 28 is the Day of Mourning.
The canary signifies the early warning system of using canaries in cages within Coal mines of England to warn of dangerous concentrations of gases. When the canary fell off its perch it was time to leave.
We do not want the worker to be the modern day canary.
CUPE originated the Day of Mourning.
