VIGIL at Queen’s Park

VIGIL at Queen’s Park, Monday, March 19, 2007, 12 noon to 2:00 PM

Please join Peter Page, Steve Mantis, Karl Crevar and a delegation from the Ontario Network of Injured Workers’ Groups (ONIWG) outside Queen’s Park at 12 noon, Monday March 19th, 2007. On this day, the Members’ of Provincial Government will go back to the Legislature following their Christmas break.

You will remember that in December the Government passed a 25% increase to the salary of all MPPs. Two week later, in January, injured workers received a 0.1% increase, less than the cost of living ad a 24% loss since 1995.

We invite all our members and supporters to join the ONIWG to make this important point - that workers with permanent injuries, diseases and disabilities are falling further into poverty. It is crucial that the Legislature hear us. Now is the time for this government to take action. For all those joining the delegation outside Queen’s Park, there will be a free T shirt saying: Politicians: 25%, Injured Workers: 0.1%

Queen’s Park is just north of the University-College corner in Toronto.

Please note: Mr. Steve Mahoney (WCB Chair) said “watch the budget” when he met us last month. Let’s show them that we are watching…..

Hope to see you there. If you can only make it for one hour, we still would love to have you join us. Please help spread the word.

Steve Mantis
Secretary, ONIWG
